How can my client fund or withdraw from their account?

We support four types of funding methods: 

1.  ACH transfer  (both deposits and withdrawals)

  • One-time deposit
  • Recurring deposit (per month)

2. Wire (deposit only)

3. Online bill pay (deposit only)

4. Mail a check (deposit only)

 

Clients can log in to the client portal and go to "Manage Transfer/Deposit or Withdraw/Select an account/Select transaction Method.”

1. ACH transfer 

 One-time Deposit

* Transaction timeframe:

  1. ACH requests >$100,000 will be received from your bank on the next business day and credited to your account after four business days under normal circumstances.
  2. ACH requests ≤$100,000 received by 11:00 am ET will be credited to your account the same day and available to trade after four business days under normal circumstances.
  3. ACH requests ≤$100,000 received after 11:00 am ET will be received from your bank on the next business day and credited to your account after four business days under normal circumstances.

* Limitations for deposit:

  1. A first-time deposit has a limit of $20,000.
  2. Same-day ACH deposits are restricted to less than $100,000.
  3. ACH deposits are limited to $100,000 over seven business days.

Go to "Manage Transfer/Deposit/ACH Transaction/One Time Deposit.”

For the first transfer, the client has to add their bank account. We support instant ACH authentication via Plaid.

After a successful ACH authentication, the bank account will be added and available for deposit or withdrawal. Please select the bank account, enter the amount, and follow the steps.

Recurring Deposit (per month)

* Limitations are subject to the same as above. 

Go to "Manage Transfer/Deposit/ACH Transaction/Recurring Deposit" in the client portal.

Choose the bank account you added previously and choose the day of the month for deposit. Input the auto-deposit money amount and click "Continue."

Confirm your transaction information and click "Continue."

A two-step verification will be required and you can confirm the recurring deposit setup.

You can track the historical transactions under "Manage Transfer/Recurring Deposit."

2. Wire

 

* Timeframe: 

From immediate to four business days, depending on your bank. Non-U.S. banks are generally at the longer end of the range. Credit to account is immediate upon arrival.

* Limitations for withdrawal:

The withdrawal hold period is three business days (you may withdraw funds after three business days). A wire cannot be internally transferred during the three-day hold period.

 

Go to "Manage Transfer/Wire.”

Contact your bank to send a wire. Notify us of your wire to ensure the proper routing of your wire to your account upon arrival. Please enter your bank name and the amount of deposit and click "Submit."

Your receiving bank information is saved under the "Bank Wire Instruction." Clicking "Finish" means that you are notifying us of your intent to send money to your account. Notifications DO NOT move any funds. Notifications expire if funds are not received within 60 days.

3. Online bill pay

 

Online bill pay is for clients using their bank's bill pay application to transfer funds to the brokerage account.  Before applying this method, you need to choose Interactive Brokers from your bank's Bill Payment application as a payee. Notify us of your bill payment to ensure the proper routing of your bill payment to your account upon arrival.

 

* Holding period:

There is no trading hold but the debit card hold and withdrawal hold are three business days for electronic and six business days for paper.

Go to "Manage Transfer/Deposit/Online Bill Pay."

Input your bank name and deposit amount. Click "Submit."

Click "Finish" to notify TradingFront of your intent to send money to your account. Notifications DO NOT move any funds. Notifications expire if funds are not received within 60 days.

4. Mail a check

 

Mail a check is to send a check and then notify us of your check to ensure routing of your check upon arrival. Please note that: 

  • The person who signs the check must be the account holder.
  • Your name must be printed on the check.
  • You must sign and date your check.
  • Mail the check to Interactive Brokers LLC as the payee.

* Holding period:

The trading hold, debit card hold and withdrawal hold are six business days.

 

Go to "Manage Transfer/Deposit/Mail a Check."
